Questioning the medium of film with an experimental, playful approach is equally important to me as more conventional work in the field of documentary film and projects as a set designer for cinema and TV.

The shortfilm “Maybe If I Would Fall Apart” embodies a hauntological perspective, presenting motifs of transitions and thresholds—elements that both connect and separate. Symbols such as fences, bridges, forest edges, reflections, and flying birds mirror the performative and mutable nature of reality, illustrating the essence of hantological being. In contrast to the classic Dracula narrative, which conveys a clear and forceful message about the need to escape the multifaceted and ambiguous, this film adopts a contemplative and questioning approach. It delves into the complex interweavings and enigmas of relative existence. It becomes clear that we are all interconnected and share in each other’s existence. We sustain one another through giving and receiving, absorbing and nourishing, thus revealing our spectral and ambiguous nature.

The documentary accompanies the Viennese instrument maker Wolfgang Weichselbaumer. Through an analytical, partly pilosophical approach, the autodidact Weichselbaumer seeks the perfect sounding body. Having built hurdy gurdies since he was nineteen he comes to develop an entirely new sounding tool. Encounters with musicians like the Spaniard Germán Díaz allow insights in Weichselbaums working methods. Through the meeting and growing friendship with the legendary French hurdy gurdy player Valentin Clastrier the film intensifies from a documentary report on a nearly forgotten instrument to a portrait, a symbiosis between the unconventional instrument maker and the extraordinary musician.

Side panel made of 3 mm aircraft plywood, consisting of 11 layers, top layer of drawn, unspliced birch veneer. Front, bottom, and lid made of 12 mm birch plywood. Surface stained and oiled with 5 layers.

Restoration
As a freelancer in the team of academic restorer MagA Eva Moser – Seiberl, I worked independently on projects involving the side altars and high altar by sculptor Meinrad Guggenbichler in Abtsdorf, the side altar and high altar in Traunkirchen, the organ case of the Bruckner organ at St. Florian Abbey, the ornaments of the organ in St. Wolfgang Abbey Church, the high altar at Reichersberg Abbey, and the side altars at St. Michael’s Church in Steyer, to name a few. After about ten years of working in the field of restoration of painted wooden altars, I also did restoration work on stone, e.g. for Christian Gurtner, objects from Karnuntum (where I was also able to apply the casting techniques I had learned in the sculpture class at BFS Hallstatt to the restoration) and Heiligenkreuz Abbey.
